Cecil Lake began competing in the sport of body building from the year 1975
until the year of 1982. He won the Mr. Netherlands Antilles championship five times from 1976, to1979, and in 1982. In the year 1978 he was awarded "Sports Man of the Year" in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. The following year 1979 he was the first Netherlands Antillean to place in the Central American & Caribbean Championships holding the 3rd place position. In March 1979 he received a "Diploma of Honor" Award from Ben Weider. Cecil Lake was the most outstanding bodybuilder for St. Maarten that year were he also became, the first St. Maartener to take part in the Pan American Games in Puerto Rico in July 1979 and he placed 5th in the lightweight category. A few months later in October 1979 he also competed in the World Bodybuilding Championships in Columbus Ohio, USA, in which he placed 18th out of the 25 competitors. Cecil Lake became the "1979 Sports Man of the Year" in Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. In 1997 he became the Vice-President to the President and founder of the "St. Maarten Body Building & Fitness Association" Hyacinthe Christine Williams. Cecil Lake was the President of the "St. Maarten Body Building & Fitness Association" from 2004 to 2006 and he is also an IFBB judge. |
